Terms and conditions

The ground rules for using this site and booking a technician through it, laid out as questions.

Updated: October 2026.

Are the prices on this site quotes?

No. They are 2026 planning ranges for Surprise and the surrounding West Valley cities. The price you pay for a repair is the figure the technician writes down on site before starting. The price for a replacement door or a new opener is the written quote you receive, which holds for the period printed on it, normally 30 days. Nothing is a contract until you approve it.

Who actually does the work?

Independent garage door contractors based in the West Valley. Surprise Garage Door Tech books the visit and takes your details; it does not perform the work and is not the contractor. The sheet or quote the contractor hands you is your agreement with them.

What about licensing?

Arizona's Registrar of Contractors requires an R-37 licence for garage door jobs over $1,000 in labor and materials. Smaller repairs fall under the state's handyman exemption. The contractor who comes out is responsible for holding whatever licence their job requires. This site claims no licence, bond or insurance on anyone's behalf. Ask the contractor for their ROC number if the job crosses the threshold.

Who handles permits and HOA approvals?

Spring, cable, opener, sensor and panel repairs need no permit in the City of Surprise or the neighboring cities. A replacement door in the same-size opening generally needs none either. A changed opening does, and the installing contractor applies for it. Where an HOA reviews exterior changes, the contractor sends the submittal before ordering a door. The city, the county and your community's documents are the final word; nothing here overrides them.

How is payment handled?

Repairs are paid when the work is done, by card, check or transfer, at the written price. A custom replacement door may carry a deposit stated on the quote, with the balance due on installation. If you decline the repair after the diagnosis, the trip fee is the whole bill.

Is anything on this site instructions for fixing my own door?

No. Springs, cables and drums are under extreme tension. The pages describe what a technician does so you can understand the job; they are not a how-to, and we accept no responsibility for injury or damage from attempts to do spring or cable work yourself.

Can I rely on the rules and facts quoted here?

They are general information about garage doors and the rules that apply in the West Valley, correct to the best of our knowledge when written. Codes, fees and programs change. The City of Surprise, Maricopa County and the Registrar of Contractors publish the current versions, and theirs govern.

Who do I ask about these terms?

Call (623) 462-9118 or write to hello@surprisegaragedoortech.com.

Heard the bang? Door hanging crooked? Opener gone quiet?

Tell us what you see and a technician calls back to set a time, usually today. Parts and labor are written down before the work starts, and a quote on a replacement door costs nothing.
